Canada will be celebrating it’s National Flag Day this February 15 of 2011. This celebration commemorates the inauguration of the Flag of Canada last Ferbruary 15 1965. Although it’s not consider as a legal holiday, institutions like school and government offices held public ceremonies and events in honor of the historical event.

The  “Maple leaf flag” is flown on buildings, museums, schools and even private homes.  Some people wear pins in the form of the flag.  Canadians take pride of their unique culture and history.  It’s the time of the year that all Canadians unite to give honor and respect to their country.

February 11 to 27 marks this years  Halifax Canada’s Winter Games. Amateur athletes and outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world will definitely flocked Halifax to witness the excitement of Canada’s largest multi‐sport competition. The game is open for all amateur and young athletes that represents each province of Canada. It is held every two years, alternating between summer  games and winter games.

The first Canada Games was held in Quebec City during 1967 as part of Canada’s centennial celebration. A total of 1,800 young athletes from different provinces paved their way to compete in different sports category. This event aims to motivate and develop Canada’s young athletes. This in return opens doors of opportunity for the athletes to a more prestigious events like Olympics and International competitions.

Two years ago, the province of Prince Edward Island  hosted Canada Summer games, this year the much awaited celebration will be sponsored by the modern port city of Halifax. Nova Scotia’s capital city is known for it’s  fantastic urban living, first class harbour and breath taking rural escape. Obviously, spectators will visit Halifax this februray for two reason:  The Canada Winter Games and Halifax itself. Cheer for your best team and go sight seeing after. It’s all here!
